Dr. Fiona Jefford joined the Practice in August 2002. She has completed PRHO posts in Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, followed by three years on the Dumfries General Practice Vocational Training Scheme. Main interests include family planning and reproductive health care. Dr. Jefford is one of GP Trainers in the Practice. In September 2016 Dr Jefford took over the role of Training Programme Director for the Region.

Glasgow University Graduate 1998.

Doctor Nick Brown joined the practice in August 2013, following a 3 year placement as GP Registrar in Lochmaben. He initially worked in hospital posts in Aberdeen, the Shetland Isles and Brisbane, Australia before joining the GP training scheme in Dumfries & Galloway. He is a GP Trainer.

Doctor Mark Miller joined the practice in August 2016. He had worked as a GP Registrar in the practice between February 2013 to August 2015. He gained his MRCGP in 2015. One of his main interests is in Palliative Medicine. He also currently works part time in The Alexandra Unit in Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The Nursing Staff

Our friendly and enthusiastic nursing team provide a wide range of services including vaccinations, diabetic reviews, ECGs, asthma/COPD management, wound reviews & dressings, blood-taking, blood pressure monitoring, ear syringing and injections. A new nurse-led travel advice and vaccinations service is available by appointment.

Sharon Hamid is our Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She runs the triage service and can independently assess, treat and follow-up patients with a wide range of medical conditions. In addition to this role she runs a Women's Health service, as well as managing a number of chronic diseases including hypertension, asthma, COPD and diabetes.

The nursing staff are supported by our Healthcare Assistants.

Robert Denston joined the practice in 2018. He has extensive experience in the fields of business management, human resources and GP finance. Robert welcomes any feedback or suggestions as how to improve the practice and our services.


Mandy is our Administrative Officer and is responsible for managing hospital referrals, letters and reports. She can also be contacted with regards to payments and for general secretarial duties.


We have 5 Receptionists at present, Linsay who is our Lead Receptionist,Emma,Sophie, Sharon and Karen. They are happy to assist you in making an appointment, responding to general registration enquiries and informing you of your test results. Please be aware that the reception is a busy environment and phone calls may not always answered immediately. This is especially true late afternoons. It would be helpful therefore if you could call before 3.30 pm for any pending results.

All telephone calls to and from the Practice are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
